About the Program

Go Time Flag Tryouts are designed for young athletes in Kinder through 8th grade who are ready to take the next step in their flag football journey. This program focuses on evaluating players’ skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment while identifying those ready for competitive-level play with Go Time Flag Football in Chula Vista.

Throughout the tryout period, players will participate in a series of drills, mini-games, and position-based evaluations that allow our coaching staff to fairly and accurately assess each athlete’s abilities, effort, and coachability.

Who Can Participate

• Grades: Kinder through 8th grade (co-ed)
• Experience Level: All experience levels welcome
• Location: Families should be able to attend sessions in Chula Vista, California

Whether your child is new to flag football or has played before, our coaches will meet them where they are and give them an opportunity to show their potential.

What to Expect

Skill Evaluation

Players will be evaluated on:

• Fundamental skills (running, catching, throwing, flag pulling)
• Basic understanding of game concepts
• Effort, hustle, and listening skills
• Teamwork and sportsmanship

Player Experience

Our goal is to make tryouts a positive experience for every player. Sessions are organized, upbeat, and age appropriate. Coaches provide encouragement and simple instruction, so each child knows what to do and feels comfortable participating.

Program Schedule

The tryouts are scheduled on October 25th, 2026. Exact location and times will be shared with registered families prior to tryouts.

Each session will include:

• Warm-up and movement drills
• Skill stations and position-based drills
• Short scrimmages or game-like scenarios
• Cool-down and brief closing with coaches

Safety and Supervision

Flag football is a non-contact sport that teaches core football skills without tackling. All sessions are supervised by trained coaches who prioritize safety, fair play, and respect at all times.

We maintain a supportive atmosphere where players are encouraged to try their best, make mistakes, learn, and grow. Our aim is to build confidence as well as athletic ability.

Selection and Next Steps

At the conclusion of the tryout period, families will be notified about placement and next steps for joining a Go Time Flag Football competitive team for tournaments. Coaches will consider both current ability and long-term potential when forming teams.

Players who are not yet ready for competitive play are still encouraged to stay involved with Go Time Flag Football through future programs and development opportunities.

What Players Should Bring

• Comfortable athletic clothing
• Athletic shoes or cleats (no metal spikes)
• Water bottle labeled with player’s name
• Optional: mouthguard for added protection

Parent Involvement

Parents are welcome to observe from the sidelines. We ask that all spectators support a positive, encouraging environment for all players and coaches. Our staff will provide information about expectations, communication, and the competitive season during the tryout period.

How to Register

Spaces may be limited to ensure quality instruction and fair evaluations. We encourage families to register early to secure a spot in the Go Time Flag Tryouts.
